Seryn is the public brand for Seryn Labs, Sole Proprietor, which provides Floatnotes and operates this website.

Privacy Policy

Floatnotes is a local-first macOS notes app. It is designed to keep your notes on your Mac. The app does not collect personal data, create user accounts, run analytics, use advertising SDKs, or send your notes to a server.

What is captured

The text you type into Floatnotes, text you explicitly send to Floatnotes, and notes you choose to export.

What is stored

Your notes and preferences are stored locally on your Mac at ~/Library/Application Support/DetachedNotes/notes.json. Floatnotes keeps automatic local backups in ~/Library/Application Support/DetachedNotes/Backups/. Floatnotes does not send note content to Seryn servers.

Clipboard and capture actions

Floatnotes reads clipboard text only when you choose an action such as New from Clipboard. Clipboard content is used to create a local note and is not transmitted by Floatnotes.

Exported images and Markdown

When you copy or export a note as Markdown or a PNG image, Floatnotes writes the result to the clipboard or to the destination you choose.

App Intents and Shortcuts

Floatnotes provides App Intents so you can use app actions through macOS Shortcuts and related system surfaces. These actions operate on your local notes.

What Floatnotes does not do

Floatnotes has no account system, analytics SDK, advertising SDK, tracking service, server sync, or remote kill switch. It cannot change its behavior on an installed Mac without an app update.

App Privacy

Floatnotes' planned App Store privacy answer is Data Not Collected: no tracking, no collected data types, no advertising identifiers.

Website notify list

This is a website function, separate from the app. Opening the Tally-hosted notify form loads Tally in an iframe. Tally receives request metadata plus the product and source fields. If you submit it, Tally and Seryn receive your email and a consent timestamp. Seryn uses it only to send one product update. It is not used for analytics, ads, newsletters, or resale. The app itself collects nothing.

Support form

Opening the app's Support & Feedback action opens a Tally form in your browser. If you submit it, Tally and Seryn receive the information you provide and any file you upload. The Floatnotes support form is https://tally.so/r/eqpvvE.

Crash and usage data

Floatnotes contains no analytics or crash-reporting code. If you have opted into sharing analytics and improvements with developers in macOS System Settings, Apple may provide Seryn crash and usage reports in anonymized or aggregated form, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Purchase data

Floatnotes is planned for distribution through the Mac App Store, where Apple handles payment processing, receipts, purchase history, and refunds. Floatnotes does not receive your payment card number.

Acknowledgement

These terms are between you and Seryn Labs, Sole Proprietor. By using Floatnotes or accessing this website, you agree to these Terms of Service and all applicable laws. If you do not agree, do not use Floatnotes or this site.

Mac App Store Purchases and Refunds

Floatnotes is planned for distribution through the Mac App Store. Apple handles checkout, payment processing, taxes, receipts, purchase history, redownloads, and refund decisions under Apple's applicable App Store terms. To request a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com. Seryn Labs, Sole Proprietor cannot approve, issue, or reverse Mac App Store refunds.

Disclaimer of Warranty

Floatnotes is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Seryn Labs, Sole Proprietor makes no warranty about the completeness, security, reliability, quality, accuracy, or availability of Floatnotes. This does not affect any warranties that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

Limitations

Floatnotes uses public Apple frameworks and system APIs. Seryn Labs, Sole Proprietor does not guarantee that Floatnotes will work on every Mac or every version of macOS. In no event shall Seryn Labs, Sole Proprietor be liable for any damages, including without limitation loss of data, lost profits, or business interruption, arising from the use or inability to use Floatnotes, even if advised of the possibility of such damage.

Prohibited Uses

Use Floatnotes only for lawful purposes. You may not use Floatnotes to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation.
• Interfere with anyone else's use of the app.
• Disable, overburden, damage, or impair the app or website.

Feedback

You may send feedback about errors, suggestions, ideas, problems, or complaints through Seryn support ("Feedback"). You agree that:

• You will not claim any intellectual property rights in the Feedback.
• Seryn Labs, Sole Proprietor may already have similar development ideas.
• The Feedback does not contain confidential or proprietary information from you or any third party.
• Seryn Labs, Sole Proprietor has no obligation to keep the Feedback confidential.

Revisions

Seryn Labs, Sole Proprietor may revise these terms at any time without notice. If you continue to use Floatnotes or this website after changes take effect, you agree to the revised terms.
